Slot Timing: The 20:30 Window

The Raipur RPO releases its regular appointment slots at 20:30 IST. This is the window when new dates become available on the Passport Seva portal, and it is when applicants need to be ready to grab them. Tatkal slots open separately at 11:00 IST and disappear even faster.

The 20:30 timing has its own set of challenges. In much of rural Chhattisgarh, internet connectivity is inconsistent, particularly in the evening hours when network load tends to peak. Applicants from smaller towns and villages often struggle with slow page loads and timeout errors at exactly the moment they need the portal to be responsive. By the time their page refreshes, the slots are gone.

However, POPSKs have their own limitations. They process fewer applications per day, their appointment slots are also limited, and not all passport services are available at these centers. Complex cases, certain types of reissues, and applications requiring additional scrutiny still need to go through the main RPO in Raipur.

Security Challenges in Southern Chhattisgarh

Districts like Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada are affected by Left Wing Extremism, and police verification for passport applications from these areas can take longer than in other parts of the state. This does not affect the appointment booking process directly, but it means that applicants from these districts need to plan for a longer total timeline from application to passport in hand.
